Bike Access Scheme

What’s it all about?

One of the key goals of our club is to help make road cycling more accessible to those wanting to give it a try. Being part of a recognised club and benefiting from guided routes, cycling in groups, learning and socialising together is great, however we recognise that investing in the bike and kit before trying the sport can be a barrier to some.

With a wonderful grant from Wiltshire Council and the generosity of Bicycle Chain in Weston, we have been able to buy two brand new Giant Contend 2 road bikes. These bike are available for you to try cycling and see how you like and enjoy it.

Equipment

One bike is a Smaller frame generally suited for women and the other is a Medium/Large.

Each bike comes ready to ride with strap-in pedals, a pump, a puncture repair kit, lights, a lock and even helmet if required. All you need to bring are comfortable clothes and a water bottle!

Loan Period

Each bike will be available for up to one month and remain with the rider for all that time to try as much as they like – hopefully coming along to our steadier Sunday morning club rides.

How does the scheme work?

  1. Make an application using the form below
  2. Once approved, a deposit of £75 will be required
  3. Liaise directly with CCC to arrange bike/kit collection
  4. Enjoy a wonderful month on the road
  5. Clean and return the bike no later than month end
  6. Once it’s signed off, £65 of your deposit will be refunded. The balance of £10 is a contribution to maintaining the bikes in a safe condition. Please provide your bank account details so we can provide the deposit promptly after safe return of the bike.
  7. Provide feedback following your experience

By submitting your application, it is taken that you fully accept the Terms and Conditions of Loan as detailed below
